We need $14.3 million to $18.6 million for project completion. This includes the projected lifetime upkeep and maintenance.
Hopes & Memories
The importance of history, culture and the environment converge in
White Cloud, Michigan is clear. Please help us preserve the natural beauty and our warm water fishery.
The dam is a great concern to the community and motivating young and old.

The odds were long in '86.
The millpond and dam have been part of the local culture and warm water fisheries ecosystem since 1872. It required an act of the Michigan legislature to protect it last time around. Please help us with your significant and generous contribution.

"I used to work with Mark Tonelo on joint projects on nearly every trout stream in the Manistee, Pine, Pere Marquette, White and Muskegon River watersheds. Mark is a good biologist and a good person not to mention an avid fisherman. For whatever reason He has bought into Trout Unlimited mission.
"Trout Unlimited has one agenda and doesn’t seem to care about our warm water fisheries or the people who cherish them. I am and have been a trout fisherman for over 60 years and worked in fisheries management for the last 25 years of my career. However I also enjoy and cherish our warm water fisheries (bluegill, perch, pike, walleye, crappie and more).
"The thing Trout Unlimited and others who believe in their mission don’t want to admit is that our impoundments serve more than one purpose they block invasive species such as the Lamprey eel, and the invasive salmon that the MDNR has planted for many years.
Back in the late 60’s the salmon started running up the Muskegon River and tributaries such as the Bigelow Creek and what a calamity that was people went absolutely crazy spearing, netting, shooting, selling salmon out of a closed season trout stream.
"The Brook trout which is a native species has suffered as they were negatively affected by the aggressive Brown trout and salmon which were planted and not native to our area. I think it’s just a matter of time and the invasive Asian Carp will inhabit our Great Lakes there’s no way anyone can stop them. Sure they will try to stop this invasive I wish them good luck with that.
"That’s a few reasons I am NOT for removing the dams. I think Trout Unlimited would be wise to spend there money on projects that would without a doubt benefit their beloved trout and salmon and by leaving our impoundments alone would block those Species which have a negative impact on our upper watersheds."
